Stephen M. Caldwell, of Bonnyville, AB, passed away peacefully in his home in Bonnyville, AB on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
Born in 1952, in St. Stephen, NB to the late Maurice and Lois (nee Hastey) Caldwell.
Stephen dabbled in a few career paths in his lifetime. Mixed with his desire for adventure these jobs took him to several locations within Canada including Frobisher Bay NU, Evansburg, Edmonton and Bonnyville, AB, Mississauga and Toronto, ON, and St. Stephen, NB. His retirement took him to Mexico and allowed for a much-desired break from the harsh Canadian winters.
Stephen was known by many as the owner/operator of the Evansburg Inn bar, Pioneer Beverage Room (Sport Page Pub) and Lumberyard Bar and Grill.
One of Stephen’s most beloved hobbies started as simple wood whittling project but soon he honed his craft into some amazing walking canes that are cherished by his family and friends.
Stephen is survived by his son; Jesse Caldwell (Emmy) and grandsons Nathaniel and Riley Caldwell, siblings; Linda Williamson, Dennis Caldwell, and Susan Caldwell, sister-in-law Gloria Caldwell, and several nieces and nephews, many close cousins with which he enjoyed lifelong friendships, former spouse and close friend, Suzanne Bell-Little, close friends of more than 50 years, James (Jim) and Dianne Johnston.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents, brothers Darrell and Keith, sister Sylvia and a few cherished pets including Vicky, Morty, Sweetpea, and Louis.
A graveside service will be held at the Pomeroy Ridge Cemetery, Pomeroy Ridge, N.B. on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at 2 PM.
