It is with great sadness the family of McKay M. Thomas announces his unexpected passing in St. Stephen, N.B. on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Born in St. Stephen, N.B., son of Ricky and Lorna (Borthwick) Thomas of Oak Haven, N.B.
McKay graduated from St Stephen High School where he played basketball and baseball throughout his time there. While growing up, he and his brother JB, went to Montreal Expo Baseball camp. He also attended basketball camp.
After finishing high school, he enrolled in a welding course at NBCC St Andrews, N.B., he then made the move west and became a Red Seal Welder and Fitter.
McKay loved making things with wood. He was always making his mother some kind of furniture. He welded up a frame, sanded some oak, got some epoxy and created the perfect river coffee table for his mom to treasure. He also crafted a changing table for the birth of his first niece.
One of his favorite hobbies was throwing knives and hatchets. He loved it so much he started making his own.
McKay was an avid weightlifter and enjoyed “working out” but a good feed from Pizza Delight was never turned down.
McKay had a heart of gold and would help anyone in need.
In addition to his parents, McKay is survived by his brother; JB (Katie), his beloved nieces; Kara and Khloe, maternal grandfather; Alfred Borthwick, grandmother, Ruth Thomas, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
McKay is predeceased by his maternal grandmother; Blanche Borthwick, paternal grandparents; Louis and Isabelle “Helen” Thomas, several aunts and uncles.
