Eugene C. Wormell

1931 - 2025

Eugene Wormell passed away peacefully at Lincourt Manor on August 17, 2025 with his family at his side.

He was born in 1931, at Chipman Memorial Hospital in St. Stephen, NB to Carl and Mildred (Coburn) Wormell, grandparents Colin and Jessica Wormell and Walter and Mary Coburn.

He lived most of his youth at the family farm on Todd's Point. He married Minnie Hall on September 9, 1953, and became part of the Wilmot and Blanch Hall family of the Ledge and moved to St. Stephen to a house he built attached to their apartment building.

Gene and Minnie worked at farming, owned and operated the International Harvester Farm Equipment business, Wormell Trucking (moving company), Antique, new and used furniture store, started an apartment business then after several years, finally retired. He loved building furniture and cabinets.

He was a member of the St. Stephen Rotary Club for over 50 years, (two­ time Paul Harris Fellowship award), He was a member of Victoria Lodge F & AM and was a Mason and a Shriner for over 40 years, He helped construct Lincourt Manor and took pride in being the first Chairman of the board for Lincourt Manor for 6 years and helped in the planning of Chipman Apartments senior housing in St. Stephen. He was a member of the United Church of Canada for many years enjoying serving on the Official Board for Oak Bay Pastoral Charge.

He is survived by his wife Minnie; daughter Lynda and her husband Doug Swan of Woodstock, NB, daughter-in-law Liz Delano of Portland Maine, grandsons, Jason of Ottawa and his children Georgia and Matthias and Justin (Amanda) of Calgary AB and their children Summer and Grayson, sister -in- law, Sandra Hall, nieces Sharon (James) Gayton, Susan (Dale) Justason, Brenda (Rob) Legacy, Marlene Collins, nephews, Albert (Wanda) Duriez, Alan Duriez and David Duriez

Gene was predeceased by his parents, Carl and Mildred (Coburn) Wormell, son Donald, sister Lorraine and her husband Rene Duriez, father and mother in-law, Wilmot "Bill" and Blanche Hall, brothers-in-law Bill Hall and his wife Vickie, Ronald Hall and his wife Nina and Don Hall.

Resting at the Kirk McColl United Church, 70 King Street, St Stephen, N.B. from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 2 P.M. Visiting hours will be at the church on Friday from 12-2 PM. A Masonic Tribute service will be held at 11:45 AM.

A private interment will take place at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St Stephen, N.B.
