Pauline A. Astorino died peacefully on Tuesday, May
7,2024 at Wauklehegan Manor, McAdam, NB, surrounded by her loving
family.
She was the daughter of the late John and Kathleen
McDonald and was predeceased by her husband Gerald Astorino, her son
Thomas; brothers Murray and Jack McDonald and sister, Nowell
Valyear.
She is survived by her sister Rose Caterini, brothers,
George and Joe McDonald; children, Gerry (Mary), Michael (Judy), Jane,
Mary (Dave), Sheri, George (Gail), John Paul (Andrea); twenty
grandchildren, thirty-two great -grandchildren and many nieces and
nephews.
Pauline was born in Saint John, NB, and when she was a
young girl she moved with her family to Harvey, NB, where she
eventually met the love of her life, Gerald. They married, lived in
McAdam where they raised their seven
children.
Pauline was first and foremost a loving wife, mother
and grandmother. She lovingly welcomed family and friends into her
home, always providing home cooked meals, goodies and friendship. She
was most well-known for her Spaghetti
Sundays!
Pauline was very involved with her community. She
worked for many years as a receptionist at the hospital. She was also
a member of the Catholic Church CWL, an avid curler, a town
councillor, and enjoyed bird watching, gardening and quilting. Pauline
was most happy on Oromocto Lake, surrounded by family and
friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Holy Family
Catholic Church, 1500 Hanwell Road, Fredericton, NB on Friday, June 7,
2024 at 2 PM. There will be a visitation at the church from 1PM until
service time. Interment at Rockland Cemetery, McAdam, NB,
that afternoon.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the
staff of the Wauklehegan Manor, where Mom was lovingly cared for over
the last 4 years.
