It is with great sadness that
the family of Richard C. Caswell announce the passing of their beloved
husband and father on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Charlotte County
Hospital, St. Stephen, N.B.
Dick was born in St. Stephen,
son of the late Richard L. Caswell and Phyllis (Bartlett)
Goode.
He graduated from Calais
Memorial High, Calais, Me. in 1960 and from Holy Rosary Commercial
School, St. Stephen in 1961.
He was an active member of
Holy Rosary Church, St Stephen and a member of Knights of Columbus
where he was a fourth-degree knight and went on to become a Deputy
Grand Knight. After Holy Rosary Church closed, he became a member of
St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.
Dick was a long-standing
member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #9. For many years he and
Marie volunteered with St. Stephen- Meals on Wheels and he also
enjoyed volunteering with the Charlotte County
SPCA.
He was a meat cutter by trade
for many years and a custodian at Sir James Dunn Academy, St. Andrews
until his retirement in 2002.
Dick was a very social person
and always had a smile for anyone he met. He enjoyed bowling, golfing,
music, traveling with his wife Marie and attending many of his
grandchildren's activities.
He cherished his family
especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he
adored.
Survived by his wife of 61
years, Marie (McGowan) Caswell, children, Rick (Cheryl), Angie Secord
(Dean), Michael (Karen), Robbie (Celeste), daughter-in-law, Judy
Noddin (Stacey and daughter Tiffany), eleven grandchildren; Taylor
(Corey), Ryan (Ashleigh), Sara, Emma, Leah (Patrick), Cameron,
Valerie, Charlotte, Peter, Josh, and Zac. three great- grandchildren;
Shay, Carter and Elowyn. Dick is also survived by his sister, Bonnie
Wheeler (Hazen), stepbrother, Darryl Wasson (Theresa), stepsisters;
Debbie Pollick & and Carolyn
Young.
In addition to his parents
Dick was predeceased by his son, Peter M Caswell, stepfather, James
Goode, stepmother Vera Caswell.
Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated on Thursday, April 25th at 11 AM at St.
Stephen’s Catholic Church, Milltown Blvd, St. Stephen, N.B.
Visiting hours will be held at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral
Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Wednesday, April 24
from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion
Branch #9 will conduct a tribute service at 3:45
PM
Interment will take place at St.
Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Rolling Dam, N.B. on Thursday 3
pm.
Donations could be made to St.
Patrick's Catholic Cemetery Fund Rolling Dam, Charlotte County SPCA or
the charity of one's choice.
The family would like to thank
Floor 2 of CCH for the exceptional care provided to Dick over the last
few months while he dealt with dementia/ ALS.
