It is with great sadness that the family of Rose MacVicar announces her sudden passing on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Rose (aka Mom/Nana) was born in Cocagne and grew up in the town of St. Andrews where she met the love of her life George.

Rose (Mom/Nana) attended Lady Dunn Trade School in St. Andrews where she graduated and began working as a bookkeeper. After leaving her bookkeeping job she worked with her husband George at the Charlotte Laundry and Cleaners.

Rose’s (Mom/Nana) true passion and calling in life was to raise children and she began that dream by raising her own children as a stay-at-home Mom after she and her husband George moved their family to Milltown, NB.

Her love for children expanded in 1990 when she began working at the St. Stephen Day Care.  When the Day Care Center closed their doors, she opened her own private childcare service which spanned over 20+ years helping provide essential childcare services to many children.  She happily retired after her second grandchild was born.

Beyond a love for all children, Rose (Mom/Nana) had a strong love of the outdoors, she could always be seen walking, biking, visits to the brook, Milltown boat landing and pool, picking cattails in the spring and all sorts of berries in season to make her beloved homemade jam. She was also an award-winning baker serving up endless treats for all to enjoy.

In her retirement years she loved spending time with her husband George and her dog Kemo at their private retreat in Upper Mills. A place she cherished, spending time on the river boating and fishing. She spent most evenings in her favourite chair watching her shows and playing games on her computer.

Rose (Mom/Nana) was the true meaning of living your life to the fullest. She had a fierce love of her family and her utmost joy was her two grandsons Nate and Jacob.

Rose (Mom/Nana) is survived by her adoring husband George, her two children, Omie (Monic) MacVicar of Quispamsis and Angela (Jeffrey) Mehan of St. Stephen and her greatest joys in life, her grandsons Nate MacVicar and Jacob Mehan. She is also survived by her sister Bernice Fraser and family, all the children she helped raise over the years, her adopted family, the Akagi’s and an endless number of close friends that she always considered family.

The family will receive friends at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd, 23 Main Street  St Stephen, NB on Monday April 22, 2024 from 2 pm – 4 pm and from 6 pm -  8 pm.

For those who wish, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Charlotte County Food Bank or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.  Condolences can be sent online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca
