It is with great sadness that the family of Darlene Whittier announce her passing at the Saint John Regional on Tuesday April 9th, 2024.

She was born in 1948, daughter of the late Horace and Inez (Bradford) Whittier.

Darlene graduated from Lawrence Station School and began working at Ganong Brothers, babysat children in her home and retired from Kingsbrae Gardens in St Andrews, NB.  Mom loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed family gatherings on the holidays.  After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, baking and spending time with her loving husband.  She also enjoyed visits with her siblings and friends.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Johnson, children, Tara Cleghorn (Andy) and Jody Whittier, grandchildren, Lauryn Cleghorn, Tealya Wilcox and Alexis McVicar, great-grandchild, Kenzie Columbus, sisters, Doreen Johnson and Gloria Matheson (Bob), brothers, Eddie Whittier (Inez), Gene Whittier (Dixie), Stephen Whittier (Brenda) and Carl Whittier (Denise), one aunt, several nieces and nephews.

In additions to her parents, she was also predeceased by brother, Vance Bradford and brother-in-law, Eric Johnson.

The family will receive friends at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St Stephen, NB. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 11am to 12:30pm.  A Celebration of Life will be held following the visitation at 12:30 pm, all are welcome to attend and share memories of Darlene.

The family would like to thank the Surgical ICU at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care for Darlene in her final days.
