With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Manuel "Man" Hynes on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Man was predeceased by his parents, Jurdon and Lucy Hynes, his infant brother Joseph and older brother William "Bill".

Survived by his wife Ruth, his children Jason (Debbie), Jeff (Rachelle) and Jennifer (Phil), and his grandchildren, Alexandria, Liam, Jess, Mia, Harlow, Emily, Parker and Norah. Man also leaves behind his siblings, Esau (Sally), Ada (Dolph), Mary, Marg (David), and Ruby (Terry), his sister-in-law Gloria as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Born and raised in Newfoundland, Man was the epitome of what Newfoundlanders are known for, a heart of gold, the gift of gab, and a strong connection to the land and sea. He would drop whatever he was doing and lend a hand to anyone, often giving the shirt off his back. His door was always open, along with the pantry, root cellar and freezer. When you visited, you often left with a full belly and a bag of traditional treats from his garden, the sea or a wedge of fruit cake.

After his retirement he spent most of his time woodworking, replicating whatever anyone would rip out of the latest Sears catalogue, and chasing sheep around the garden as he pursued his love for hobby farming until he relocated to New Brunswick in 2023.

The only thing Man loved more than a good meal of fresh fish was his family. Ever so proud of his children, his grandchildren were his greatest joys. His true love was his wife Ruth, who has been his steadfast support. She has been his rock and shoulder to lean on, till the very end and will miss him immensely as will his children, family, friends and all those whose lives he has touched.

As he wished, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
