It is with great sadness that the family of Leo Arsenault
announce his passing at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B. on Friday,
March 8, 2024 at the age of 81.
Born in St. Charles, N.B., Leo was the oldest of five
children, son of the late Arthur and Ruby Arsenault.
The family moved to Milltown in 1951 when Leo was eight years
old. Leo had to learn to speak and understand English at a young age.
Growing up in Milltown, he made many friends due to his outgoing
personality.
Leo learned to skate on the bog where his passion for the
sport of hockey began. He played junior hockey for the St. Stephen
Aces and Saint Andrews Senators. Later, he played for the Charlotte
County Oldtimers, well into his seventies.
He worked for International Drug Company for several years
before he started working at the Flakeboard Company. He retired from
Flakeboard Company in 2007.
Leo loved bowling, playing cards, spending time at the
cottage at Digdeguash Lake, and hanging around with his family and
friends. One of his greatest joys was watching his grandson grow up
and play the game he loved so much.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Purdy), daughter,
Nicolette Rufa (Jason) of New York, grandson, Aidan Rufa, three
sisters, Elizabeth Woodward of California, Annette Hathaway of Arizona
and Gloria Mullen of Maine, sisters-in-law, Rebecca Hill (Gene) of
Woodstock, N.B. and Cynthia Gregory (Joseph) of St Stephen, N.B.,
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Leo was predeceased by his
brother, Ivan.
A celebration of his life will be held at The S.O. Mehan
& Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on
Saturday, June 8, 2024 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends at the
funeral home from 12 PM until service time.
Interment at St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen,
N.B.
For those who wish, donations to Lincourt Manor or
