It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paula Demerchant on Saturday October 21, 2023 at the Charlotte County Hospital St Stephen, New Brunswick, loving wife of Peter Demerchant of St Stephen, New Brunswick.

Born in North Sydney, Nova Scotia, daughter of Roderick MacDonald and the late Carola MacDonald.

Paula was employed with her husband with Canada Border Services as an Officer and a Program Officer for 32 years. Paula and her husband travelled extensively and had many adventures of a lifetime.  They both enjoyed St Andrews Bay, fishing, boating, whale watching and had many great times at the cottage of Deer Island.

Paula was devoted to her fur babies, loved her dogs!  Paula will be missed by all who knew her.

Paula leaves to mourn her husband, Peter, her father, Roderick (Carol), one sister, Sadie MacDonald (Karen), one brother, Stuart MacDonald (Karen), stepson, Daryn Demerchant (Leah), two step grandchildren, Xavier and Maddison, her nieces, Kailyn, Ashton and Randi, many aunts, uncles, cousins and the whole turtle tribe, who made her final months so wonderful.

In keeping with Paula’s wishes there will be no funeral service held.  The family will receive friends at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street   St Stephen, New Brunswick on Tuesday October 24th, 2023 from 6 – 8 pm.

If so desired, donations in memory of Paula may be made to Charlotte County Cancer, Charlotte County SPCA, Canadian Blood Services or charity of one’s choice.

"And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy."
