It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd Linton on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. after complications arising from surgery.

Born in St. Stephen, N.B., son of the late Berton and Grace Linton and stepson of Micky and Chris McKay. He lived with Micky and Chris from the age of four until he was a young adult.

Lloyd married Karen (Little) in 1970. They had two sons, Chad and Jarett. Their son Jarett died in 1993 at the age of 19. Lloyd and Karen were also blessed with two beautiful grandchildren, Noah and Isabelle.

Lloyd enjoyed many trips and social events with his wife, son and grandchildren and always loved it when they visited him at home.

Lloyd worked for N.B. Power for over 35 years. After his retirement, he worked with private contractors, fixing the power in different parts of Canada, the U.S. and the Caribbean. He was part of the recovery team for Hurricane Dorian. He was there for six weeks, helping in the power restoration efforts. He worked with E. Holland, K-Line and E & E Power over the years.

When Lloyd was young, he loved drag racing. He raced in Pennfield, Winterport and wherever he could, winning many races.

He loved driving cars for St. Croix Auto, Downey Ford and the Olde Car Guy in his spare time. He also loved going for coffee with the guys every morning at Tim’s or McDonald’s around 6:30 AM. They laughed, told jokes and funny stories.

Lloyd loved to play softball. He coached teams when the boys were young. He coached the "Cats" for many years. Lloyd, some team players and businesses raised money to "light up the diamonds" behind the high school. He had the honor of turning on the lights for the first time. Those lights are still used to this day.

Lloyd was very likable. He was easy going, had a great sense of humor and was always smiling.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen, son, Chad (Sarah), grandson, Noah, granddaughter, Isabelle. He is also survived by his brother Maurice (Sandy) and sister Susan, several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and stepparents, he was predeceased by his son Jarett, sisters, Raya, Rhonda, Linda and Sue.

He will be missed by those who loved him and shared part of their lives with him.

Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. from where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 2 PM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 6-8 PM.
