It is with sadness the family of Carol M. McLaughlin announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. on Friday, May 26, 2023.

Carol was born in 1942, to Frederick "Fred" and Hilda (Spearin) McKeeman.  Carol married Byron "Barney" McLaughlin and they had three children, Gail, Byron "Barney" and Robert "Bob" McLaughlin, all of Bayside. Carol was proud to tell people that she lived with all her ‘kids’ at the Bayside home. She was extremely proud of her grandson, Chris McLaughlin of St. Stephen. She also leaves her grandson, Jamie, granddaughter, Kate and their families who live elsewhere in Canada.

Up until her passing, she kept in regular contact with her sisters, Inez McLaughlin, Ruth (Roy) Frazer, Freda Daley and her baby brother, Ralph McKeeman of Westbrook Maine from her "Captain’s Chair" (see photo above). Usually around 10:00 a.m. each day she talked with her "special’ sister Emily (McLaughlin) Haley. Carol is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was predeceased by her grandson, Jeremy, brothers, Sheldon and Fred McKeeman, sisters-in-law, Rowena, Sharon and Anita McKeeman, brothers-in-law Roland, Earl, Gordon, Joseph, Burton McLaughlin, Edward Haley, Ora Garland and Caroll Daley, half brother, Leonard and his wife Shirley.

Carol was everyone’s go to and had a huge generous heart.  She loved and took pride in giving what she had.  She was a wonderful homemaker and loved cooking. Her homemade bread went to people all over the country. She was an extremely kind and generous soul that deserves the rest she now enjoys.

Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 2 PM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 6-8 PM.

Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Oak Hill, N.B.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Oak Hill Cemetery Fund, Oak Hill Hall or a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca
