It is with great sadness the family of George D. Lister announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

Born in St. Stephen, N.B., son of the late Paul Sr. and Grace (Coleman) Lister.

In 1970, he moved to Calgary, where he lived for 52 years. He had various occupations throughout his life there, such as, fireplace installer and a dental technician. He later took LPN training and worked in a group home for the mentally challenged. A job that he loved. He retired as a Residential Support Worker in 2009.

George had a great love for all animals, especially for his horse, Rex. He was also part of the St Stephen Horse Riding Club which he initiated. Throughout the years in Calgary, he bred and raised cockatiels, had a dog named Teiger, and made a fishpond in his backyard.

George had many hobbies and interests. He loved riding horses and his motorbike in the early years. He enjoyed travelling, photography, camping, bowling, cross-country skiing, amusement parks, especially the rollercoasters. He was a member of the St. Stephen Horseshoe Pitchers Club and pitched horseshoes at the Canadian Horseshoe Tournament in Calgary, and the World Horseshoe Tournament in Topeka, Kansas.

In 2018, he returned home to New Brunswick and settled in Rollingdam. He spent his remaining years fishing from the brook in the front yard of his home he loved, gardening, raising his chickens, his "pet" rooster and three cats.
