Ronald "Ronnie" Dennis Hossack passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB on May 5, 2023.

Ronnie was born on April 17, 1965, at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, NB to parents Dennis Hossack (1940-2002) and Velma Hossack (1944-2020).  Ronald is survived by siblings Sherri, Neil and Susie Hossack and niece Jessica Marshall.

In his youth, Ronnie was a bright and athletic child who loved riding his dirt bike and competing in horseback competitions.  He also enjoyed working at the family restaurant, Carman's Diner.

In his early teens Ronnie developed mental illness and began a struggle with addiction.  During his young adult life, he was institutionalized, and a treatment program was developed and eventually put into place.

In more recent years, Ronnie lived a good life, content and well cared for at New Brunswick Community Residence in Fredericton, New Brunswick.  There he lived in a lovely home with like-minded residents and surrounded by supportive caregivers.  Ronnie fully enjoyed the many day trips they embarked on and group activities like bowling, billiards, and trips to the cinema.  He often spoke fondly of his one-on-one coffee dates with friends and social workers who became friends.

In the past few months, Ronnie’s health began to decline and unfortunately was unable to rally this time.

There will be no funeral service or visitation taking place.   Interment will be at Johnson Settlement Historical Cemetery, Johnson Settlement, N.B. at a later date.

Ronnie's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to manager Heather and the staff of New Brunswick Community Residence for their excellent care over the years.  They would like to acknowledge the tremendous importance of their challenging occupation.

For those who wish, the family suggests donating in Ronnie's memory to a special care facility of one's choosing or to simply read up on one of life's often unspoken challenges, schizophrenia, and addiction.
