It is with great sadness that the family of Jean S. (McDougall) Thomas announce her passing on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Jean was the eldest of twelve children born to the late George and Mina (McLaughlin) McDougall of Lawrence Station, N.B.

Having been deaf since the age of three months, her life presented many obstacles and challenges which she faced with grace, happiness, kindness and faith. Her gentle, sweet spirit brought so many blessings to our family. We counted it a privilege that her two grandsons allowed her sisters to care for her in her last days, as she took care of us for so many years.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Joanne Pauley of St. Stephen, N.B., grandsons, Rev. Matthew Linton (Cynara) of Katey, Texas and Ryan Dow (Ashley) of St. Stephen, N.B, great -grandchildren, Malaki, Selah and Bentlea, all of Katey, Texas. Jean also leaves to mourn, her siblings, Charlotte Smith, Connie McDougall, Holly Orr (Randy), Edwinna McDougall (Carolyn) and Donald McDougall (Debbie), several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Jack Thomas, brother, George McDougall Jr., infant brother, Daniel, sisters, Madeline Blakley, Viola Wilson, Jacqueline McCray and Helena Quinn, nephew, Edward Blakley, nieces, Gail Blakley and Dawn McDougall.

Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. from where the funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at 2 PM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 6-8 PM.

Interment at Brockway Cemetery, Brockway, N.B. at a later date.

For those who wish, donations to the Brockway Cemetery or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca

Although her passing brings sadness to our family we find comfort in knowing that the first words she will hear is her Lord saying  "Well done good and faithful servant" and the first song she will hear will be a choir of angels.
