The family of
Effie M. Smith are saddened to announce her passing at Lincourt Manor,
St. Stephen, N.B. on Sunday, June 26,
2022.
Born in
Bartletts Mills, N.B., daughter of the late Belle Raymond.
Effie was a
member of the Gateway Cathedral for 40 plus years. She was active in
the Ladies Missionary group, attended Bible studies and helped prepare
meals for church events. She had a very loving and caring church
family.
She was a
member of the golden 69er’s bowling group and her favorite
past time was going to Bingo. She also made wreathes every year until
she was 90 years old.
She was
affectionately known as "Gram" to half of Milltown. If you
needed a place to stay or something to eat, she gave it willingly.
Many will remember her for her homemade bread, pancakes &
molasses, and her homemade French fries. She bought a lot of bottles
and cans over the years from our whole community. Effie played a big
part in her grandchildren’s lives and family was very
important to her.
She loved to
travel to Nova Scotia to visit with Gramp’s family. She also
travelled to Dollywood, New York, Ontario and PEI (where she went
camping and enjoyed all the rides!) She loved to go to flea markets
with her friend, Jean Hummes of Calais. She enjoyed suppers, pancake
breakfasts and going on long trips with the bus
tours.
Effie is
survived by her children, Donna Bradford, Doreen Smith (Orris), Nancy
Smith, all of St. Stephen, N.B., Lee-More Smith of Ontario and Leo
