At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2022,
Kevin Leslie Guptill of St. Stephen, NB, passed away peacefully with
his daughter, Mary Ellen, by his side. Born on November 15,
1957, in St. Stephen, he was the son of the late Murray and Mary
(Bradley) Guptill.
Kevin is survived by his three daughters, Mary Ellen (Ryan)
of St. Stephen, Nancy (Mitchell) of Edmonton AB, Penny-Anne of Moncton
and his chosen son Peter MacMillan (Oak Bay). He is also
survived by his wife, Shirley Guptill and their grandson Hayden.
He is survived by the mother of his children and first
wife, Edna Armstrong. He has 7 grandchildren: Kelsey,
Lincoln, Jonathan, Alexis, Olivia, Sophia and Leona Rose.
Great grandchildren: Rilynn, Ryder and Aubrey.
Nieces and nephews: Lisa, Jodi, Peter, Wendy, Sara and
Terrance. Survived by sister-in-law, Jill. Many close
cousins and extended family in New Brunswick and Nova
Scotia.
Kevin was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by his brother Murray Francis
"Mike" Guptill, his sister Cathryn "Cathy" May
MacMillan and brother-in-law Allen MacMillan.
Kevin was a member of the Sipekne’katik
Mi’kmaq First Nation in Hants County, Nova Scotia. Kevin had
a great love of the outdoors: driving on this four-wheeler in
Piskahegan, moose hunting, bear baiting, camping & swimming
with his girls in Little Lake, driving the back roads and playing soft
ball. He used his natural abilities to build a
successful business - Guptill’s Guiding Service.
He was a truck driver and was an Ice Maker for many years at
the Border Arena.
Kevin’s later years were enriched by living at Twin
Towers Special Care Home. He had a special bond with Tom,
Cathy and Caleb Knox. Twin Towers staff, Wanda and
Pauline and residents will also grieve Kevin’s passing,
especially his thoughtfulness, kindness and sweet
smile. They became his much-loved family.
His contribution to their family life will be sorely
missed!
Kevin’s daughters would like to extend their
gratitude to the staff & residents at Twin Towers for loving
our father as much as they did. We are forever grateful for
your kindness shown to him. You made the last years of his
life happy & safe.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of
life to be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main
Street, St Stephen, NB. on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 2 PM.
Visitation will begin at 1 PM prior to the
service. Interment will follow at the Milltown Catholic
Cemetery in Barter Settlement.
