At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, May 2, 2022, Kevin Leslie Guptill of St. Stephen, NB, passed away peacefully with his daughter, Mary Ellen, by his side.  Born on November 15, 1957, in St. Stephen, he was the son of the late Murray and Mary (Bradley) Guptill.

Kevin is survived by his three daughters, Mary Ellen (Ryan) of St. Stephen, Nancy (Mitchell) of Edmonton AB, Penny-Anne of Moncton and his chosen son Peter MacMillan (Oak Bay).  He is also survived by his wife, Shirley Guptill and their grandson Hayden.   He is survived by the mother of his children and first wife, Edna Armstrong.  He has 7 grandchildren: Kelsey, Lincoln, Jonathan, Alexis, Olivia, Sophia and Leona Rose.  Great grandchildren: Rilynn, Ryder and Aubrey.  Nieces and nephews: Lisa, Jodi, Peter, Wendy, Sara and Terrance.  Survived by sister-in-law, Jill. Many close cousins and extended family in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Kevin was the last surviving member of his immediate family.  He was predeceased by his brother Murray Francis "Mike" Guptill, his sister Cathryn "Cathy" May MacMillan and brother-in-law Allen MacMillan.

Kevin was a member of the Sipekne’katik Mi’kmaq First Nation in Hants County, Nova Scotia. Kevin had a great love of the outdoors: driving on this four-wheeler in Piskahegan, moose hunting, bear baiting, camping & swimming with his girls in Little Lake, driving the back roads and playing soft ball.   He used his natural abilities to build a successful business - Guptill’s Guiding Service.  He was a truck driver and was an Ice Maker for many years at the Border Arena.

Kevin’s later years were enriched by living at Twin Towers Special Care Home.  He had a special bond with Tom, Cathy and Caleb Knox.   Twin Towers staff, Wanda and Pauline and residents will also grieve Kevin’s passing, especially his thoughtfulness, kindness and sweet smile.  They became his much-loved family.  His contribution to their family life will be sorely missed!

Kevin’s daughters would like to extend their gratitude to the staff & residents at Twin Towers for loving our father as much as they did.  We are forever grateful for your kindness shown to him.   You made the last years of his life happy & safe.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of life to be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St Stephen, NB.  on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 2 PM.  Visitation will begin at 1 PM prior to the service.  Interment will follow at the Milltown Catholic Cemetery in Barter Settlement.

For those who wish, donations may be made to the Legacy of Hope Foundation (legacyofhope.ca) which brings awareness and understanding of Residential Schools or a charity of one’s choice.   Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.mehanfuneralhome.ca
