John "Phil" Dempsey passed away peacefully at home on Thursday March 10, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Jacquet River, NB, he was a son of the late Albert Dempsey and Marion Dempsey. In addition to his parents, Phil was predeceased by his wife Shirley Dempsey, sons, Robert and Christopher, brother, Jerry Dempsey, sisters, Donnadean Dempsey and Bernadine Furlotte.

Phil leaves behind his daughter Christine Dempsey and his grandkids, Destiny and D.J. sons Jason Dempsey, Philip Jr and Shawn, all of Ontario. Also left behind are his brothers Alistair, and Holton, his sisters Velda Hodgeman, Frances Hickman, Delina Dempsey, Pauline Dempsey, Jeannie Terranova and Wendy Graham.

Phil was a strong, loving, humble and kind man. He Loved to talk and tell stories to anyone and everyone.  He was the owner of the former local store "Dempseys on King" and loved being Santa Claus. He enjoyed hockey (Habs) and listening to Johnny Cash music. He was a loving husband and the world's greatest dad. He will truly be missed by his kids, family and friends and dog Jessie and cat Willy.

Funeral service will be held at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-2 pm
