ORCHARD- It is with great sadness the family of Lawrence Ray (Larry) Orchard wishes to announce his unexpected passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on March 23, 2010. Born in White's Cove, NB on October 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Ray Knight and Beulah Augusta (Miller) Orchard.He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Johanna Elizabeth(Jenny)( VanGenechten) , his children, Jane McShane(Gary), Garth(Joyce), Shelley Vienneau(Peter), 5 grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Erin, Daniel and Alyssa; brother, Clayton(Lorna).Larry graduated from the school of Pharmacy at Dalhousie University in 1961.Throughout his career; he managed various drug stores in Halifax, Saint John, Sussex and St. Stephen. In 1983 he opened Orchard's Pharmacy and retired in 1994. He served for many years on the Boards of Fundy Region Transition House and Home Support Services. He loved being at home, spending time with his family and tending to his garden and cars. He will be especially remembered for his great sense of humour and quick wit.Resting at The S. O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB from where the funeral service will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 2PM. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Interment in St. Stephen, Rural Cemetery.For those who wish donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Fundy Region Transition House or charity of ones choice would be appreciated by the family.
