It is with great sadness the family of Doreen Goodine, loving wife of Ronald Goodine for almost 60 years, announce the sudden passing which occurred on August 3, 2020 at the Charlotte County Hospital.  Born in Hopewell Cape on January 4, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Annie (Roberts)Tower.

Besides her husband Ron, she is survived by her sons Steven Goodine (Beth Ward), Michael Goodine (Yolande), daughters Sandra Hollingdale (Mike) and Jennifer Wright (Derrick).  Also by grandchildren Trudy, Judy, Sam, Grace, Shannon, Hillary, Kate, Tom, Melissa and Ben, and by great-grandchildren, Taylor, Cash, Walker, Mason, Layla and Lincoln, Haylee and Hank.  Her surviving siblings include Donna Crowell (Richard), Charles Tower (Sandra), Catherine Armstrong (William), Georgina LeBlanc, Marion Boulton (Richard), Winnifred Beaumont, and David Tower (Tracy), as well as sisters-in- law; Phyllis Mitton, Barbara Rowan and Loretta Washburn, and many nieces and nephews.

Doreen was pre-deceased by her brother Leroy Tower and sister Ruth Wright, great granddaughter Sophi Ella, brothers-in-law; Dr. Raymond Goodine, Jack Ryan, Earl Mitton, William Rowan, LeRoy Washburn and Don Beaumont, as well as sisters-in-law; Thelma Monahan and Doris Ryan.

After graduating from Moncton High School, Doreen went on to Teacher’s College in Fredericton where she met the love of her life, Ron. They moved to St. Stephen where she had a fulfilling 33 year career in teaching, primarily with special needs students whom she cared for as if they were her own.  The joys of her life were her four children and even more so her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she loved dearly.  Doreen was a charter member of the St. Stephen Milltown Lionettes Club, a member of the Chocolate Fest Committee, and was passionate about the Relay for Life, in particular the organization of the Survivor’s dinner.  Other activities include the annual Kidney Foundation Campaign and a member of the local Retired Teachers Association.

The family would like to thank the medical staff and nurses from the Charlotte County Hospital as well as the Home Support team .

Visitation will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd. (23 Main St., St. Stephen) on Friday, August 7th from 6-8pm.  Please note that face masks must be worn in the funeral home for the visitation.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doreen’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice of Charlotte or charity of one’s choice.
