The death of Elva Wynette Cameron occurred at Fredericton, NB on June 16, 2020. She was born at the Chipman Memorial Hospital in St. Stephen, NB, on April 15, 1942.  Elva was the daughter of the late Alton (1966) and Olive (Lever) Cameron (1992) and was predeceased by her brother, Gordon Cameron (1998).  She is survived by two nieces, Candace Cameron Hughson (Jeffrey) and Shelley Cameron (Steven Gunson) of Edmonton, Alberta; three grand-nieces, Melissa Cameron, Kylie Hughson, and Taylor Hughson, and two grand-nephews, Cole Hughson and Keith Gunson of Edmonton; and her first cousin and family in  Ontario, Raymond (Vicki), Matthew and Emily Curran, as well as numerous cousins. 

Elva was a graduate of St. Stephen High School (1960), the University of New Brunswick (BA 1964, BBA 1995), and the University of Toronto (BLS 1966).  She taught school in Saint John, was a Librarian at the UNB Harriet Irving Library, and retired in 1998 after several years of work at LRIS and NBGIC.

Funeral service will be held at The S.O Mehan And Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB. on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 2:00 PM.

Please keep in mind, that due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will be social distancing measures in place. We ask for the safety of the public that you adhere to the guidelines and we also ask that you please bring and wear a mask while inside the funeral home.

Please use the carport entrance (Union Street side) to enter the funeral home on Monday for the service.

Interment will take place in the Moores Mills Cemetery, Moores Mills, NB.

For those who wish, donations made to the Lung Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated in Elva’s name.

The Family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Frederick Hall (Shannex) in Fredericton, where she resided for the past several years.
