At his residence in Todds Point, NB May 9, 2020, David Thomas
Sampson, husband of Joyce (Thompson) Sampson. Born in New
Glasgow, NS on November 18, 1935. Son of the late Cyrus
Dexter Sampson and Barbara (MacKelvie) Sampson. He enjoyed a
happy childhood in Westville, NS.
Survived by his wife, daughters Helen Sampson (David),
Heather Sampson, sons, Robert Sampson (Darlene), John Sampson (Grace),
beloved grandchildren Brian, Emma (Beardsall), Michael, Matthew,
Rebecca (Sampson), Jacob, William (Sampson), brother Kenneth Sampson,
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was pre-deceased by his
brother, Dexter Sampson (Joan), and sister Anita Latham
(Don).
Dave and Joyce met while teaching. Most of his
working life was spent involved in carpentry. His many
interests included canoe and kayak building, motorcycling, sailing,
bicycling and woodworking. He loved canoe and kayak racing
and being active with his dog, Toddy. He enjoyed making
tuning stools and hand carving shoehorns for friends. Dave
loved spending time in his workshop.
His love of life was an inspiration to us all, he will be
deeply missed.
Many thanks to Dr. Lister, the extramural nurses and other
health care workers.
A private burial will take place at a later
date.
