Trellis passed away at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen NB. on Friday, February 7, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was a daughter of the late Mary Josephine (Legacy) and William Frederick Knowles.

Trellis was born in Jacquet River, New Brunswick, and moved to St. Stephen as a child. She was a hard working, strong woman who loved her family with all of her heart. Her favourite colour was yellow. She loved to watch Little House on the Prairie and the Waltons. Many moons ago The Edge of Night and Another World were her favourite must see everyday soaps. She also loved learning and in her younger years was always working towards her education. Trellis loved family picnics and get togethers…the food (she loved a good hotdog, cooked or not) the conversations, listening to everyone’s stories and just sitting back taking in all that was going on around her. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren at play when they were little and even as adults. When her great grandchildren came along, she got another chance to watch her little ones at play. She loved them all.

Trellis will be deeply and forever missed by her four daughters: Theresa (John) Akagi, Joanne (Barry) Grant, Susan (Kimball) Hodge, Bonnie (Mark) Blue, two sons: David (Terri) Bryant and Timothy McMillan, nine grandchildren: Gillian (Jeremiah) Kerr, Ramona Akagi, Karyn Leavitt, Alyssa Akagi (Shawn), Jordan (Cheryl) Grant, Rebecca Grant, Nathan (Kim) McMillan, Jason (Courtney) Merchant  and Jaclyn (Raymond) Cormier, her adored great-grandchildren: Madison, Avery, MacCartney, Paige, Seth, Dominic, Spencer, Skyler and Raylyn.

Trellis was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, David Carleton Bryant, second husband, Stanley James McMillan, partner, Steven Asa Merchant,  infant daughter, Maddy, infant twin sons, James and Joseph, sisters: Phyllis, Eva, Ella, Doris, Tressa and Madeline, brothers: Willie, Eddie and Lester, daughter-in-law, Terri and son-in-law, Barry.

Funeral service will be held at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB on Monday, February 10, 2020 at 2 PM. There will be no visitation held.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations in memory of Trellis be made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Passamaquoddy Lodge for their great care and for giving mom many moments of laughter. We would also like to express our gratitude to the staff of the CCU and the Respiratory Therapist at the Charlotte County Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care.
