Marion L. Larkin passed away peacefully at Loch Lomond Villa,
Saint John, NB on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the age of 97. Born in
Saint John, NB, daughter of the late Warren and Margaret (Brown)
Douglas.
Marion was married to Francis Larkin for 46 years and resided
in St Stephen until 2 years ago when she moved to Loch Lomond
Villa.
Marion and Francis dedicated their lives to serving Holy
Rosary Church and ministering to others. They were an active Christian
team in the Lay Ministry program, the Eucharistic Ministry program,
and in chairing and helping to deliver the liturgy program for Holy
Rosary. Their lives touched the lives of almost every parishioner, and
many in the Charlotte County and across the border
communities.
Marion was a Registered Nurse, trained at Chipman Memorial
Hospital, in St Stephen, and graduated from the nursing program in
1951. She worked at the General Hospital, the D.V.A. and Calais
Regional Hospital as the evening Nurse Supervisor until her retirement
in 1987. She attended many Nursing conferences and conventions,
including international during her career.
In 2002, Marion was a proud recipient of the
Queen’s Golden Jubilee Commemorative Medal.
Marion is survived by her nephew, Francis (Terry Lee) Martin
& their daughter, Elicia of Saint John, NB, and her extended
family, Mary (Kevin) Kennedy, their children Mary and
Doug.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, Francis Larkin,
sisters, Ruth Douglas and Lillian Martin, and brother in law Gerry
Martin.
Funeral service will be held at St Stephen’s
Catholic Church, Milltown Blvd., St. Stephen, NB on Thursday, November
14, 2019 at 12 Noon. The family will receive friends at The S. O.
Mehan & Son Funeral Home Ltd., 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB
on Wednesday, November 13 from 4-6pm, and Thursday prior to the
funeral mass from
10:30-11:30am.
