Gordon Kenneth Matheson
Gordon"Buddy" Kenneth Matheson passed away peacefully February 9, 2019 at Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, after a period of failing health.
He was born in St. Stephen March 19, 1940 to the late Gordon MacLeod and Doris Roberta (Madsen) Matheson.
He is survived by his second wife, Sandra (Acheson) Matheson, children: Danny Matheson (Natalie), Tami Matheson (Merle Cunningham), Jeff Matheson, Lori Crosby. Grandchildren: Adam (Casey) Matheson, Aaron Eagan, Tristan MacLeod, Jessica Eagan, Emily Crosby, great grandchildren: Ava and Kade Matheson. Brothers: Albert (Lucille) Matheson, Arthur (Barbara) Matheson, several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Janice Whittier Matheson, his sister Eileen (Matheson) Noftell and nephew Jonathan Noftell, and his parents.
He became a Red Seal mechanic and worked at J. Clark and Son for a few years before returning to school and teaching Motor Mechanics at St. Stephen High School, from which he retired after 25 years. After retirement he enjoyed working in the woods, tinkering in the garage, and growing a vegetable garden. He was involved with the Western Charlotte Fire Department since its inception in 1969, as mechanic, mentor, Captain, and was always ready to give a helping hand.
As per his wishes there will be no visitation.
A Celebration of Life will take place February 24, 2019 at the Western Charlotte Volunteer Fire Hall, Pomeroy Ridge, 2:00 -5:00 p.m.
A private graveside service will occur in the spring. Memorial donations can be made to the WCFD Gordon M. Matheson scholarship fund, or a charity of your choice.
