Leona Joyce McGlinchey
At Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen, N.B, following a long period of failing health, Leona Joyce McGlinchey, passed peacefully away on June 20, 2014.
Born at Pomeroy Ridge in 1936, she was the youngest child of Alonzo and Vivian (Thornton) McGlinchey and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Leona spent her younger years at home as a caregiver to her mother before going to work as a housekeeper and at Ganongs. She ended her working career after many years at the Tuna Plant.
Leona is survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances McGlinchey (Roland) of Gorham, ME, and Mrs. Barbara McGlinchey (Albert) of Westbrook, ME; several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by eight brothers, Charles, Byron, Arnold, Briar, Jude, Roland, Albert and Frank, as well as four sisters, Agnes McGlinchey, Almeda Johnson, Edna Matheson and Viola Leeman.
Resting at The S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, N.B. from where the funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 3 PM. with Rev. Canon John Matheson, officiating.
Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Interment to follow at Pomeroy Ridge Cemetery, Pomeroy Ridge, NB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pomeroy Ridge Cemetery Fund or a charity of one's choice.
