Helen Althea Langley

LANGLEY - Helen Althea Langley, age 87, of St. Andrews, NB, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Passamaquoddy Lodge, January 20th, 2014.

Born September 9, 1926 in Moncton, NB to the late Frederick Charles and Annie Baker (Dobson) Cosman, the middle child of 15 children.

Married Franklin McVay Langley of Brockway, NB, April 3, 1945 in Moncton, NB. Retired from the New Brunswick Community College in 1986 after 23 years, then began a successful career in Real Estate before retiring in 2004. Helen was a charter member of Unity Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Harvey Station, NB. Member of the Wesley United Church Choir, St. Andrews, NB. Served on the St. Andrews Town Council, was a board member of the Charlotte County Housing Association. Helen was a co-founder of the St. Andrews Arts Council where she served as secretary and president for many years, receiving the Alfred Needler Award for her years of tireless and dedicated service.

Survived by her husband of 68 years, Franklin McVay Langley. Two children, daughter Barbara (Bill) Vye of Bedford, NS., and son David (Grace) Langley of St. Andrews, NB. Six grandchildren, Erika Vye of Copper Harbour, Michigan, Dustin (Gina) Vye of New York City, Breanna Langley of Halifax, NS, Kathleen Keating of Saint John, NB, Laura(John) Carroll Keating of Harvey Station, NB, and Anna Keating of Saskatoon, SK. Two great grandchildren, Savannah Vye and Coulter Vye of NYC. Two sisters, Ann Manning of Sussex, NB, and Shirley (Gordon) Wallace of Moncton, NB, two brothers, Robert Cosman of Toronto, ON and John (Ruth) Cosman of Moncton, NB., numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her sisters, Freda and Margaret, and brothers Charles, William, Donald, Kenneth, Edward, Fred, Walter and David.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice. An Eastern Star service will be held at 6:30 pm Thursday, January 23rd at Wesley United Church, William St., St. Andrews, NB followed by general visitation from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Funeral service to be held Friday, January 24th at 3:00 pm at Wesley United Church, William St., St. Andrews, NB with a reception immediately following at the Church hall.

Interment to take place at a later date to be announced.
